Forbidden things were an installation set up for the AIDS International Day in Valencia, highlighting how the stigma still associated with this disease causes the afflicted individual to feel enclosed in a virtual capsule, both spatially and psychologically. I used the device of  a narrow and closed space where all kind of everyday objects are hanged in the air to emphasize that although the virus does not spread through shaking hands or sharing the same domestic objects and this is a known fact, the prejudice lingers, physically and mentally. I used a sound “hook” to invite passers-by to enter the capsule. The multitude of objects that fill the entire space hanging halfway in the air prevents anyone from going in.  My intention was to bring forward as an experience the feelings of a sick person: fear, loneliness, and marginalization.
